Are you looking for a peaceful country retreat that’s not too far from civilization? Then Casa Sotavento or Villa Margarita are just the places for you! Within a short distance there is a choice of mountains, historic cities, a stuning river and numerous beaches. If swimming, snorkelling or lazing on a beach is your thing then there are numerous ‘secret’ bays nearby. Most have tracks for access which ensures their  privacy but we will tell you how to find them.  More about the beaches....

The charming fishing port of L’Ametlla de Mar with its shops, restaurants and beaches is only 5 kms away.  Watch the fishing boats bringing in and unloading the day’s catch which is then auctioned off at the fish market or sit at one of the cafés by the port and watch the world go by. Pay a visit to El Perello, only 4kms away, with its twice weekly street market & see the olives being pressed for oil at Moli d’Oli. There is easy access from here to the local mountains. More about el Perelló


Withing easy reach of El Perello is the Ebro Delta, a unique natural paradise with kilometres of paddy fields & wildlife including pink flamingoes. It’s an ideal spot for birdwatching, fresh water fishing, walking cycling or for taking a boat trip up the River Ebro. More about the Ebro Delta..

Upstream from the Delta is Miravet. Built on the rocks above the river where the remains of Miravet Castle, built by the Moors in the 11th century and later belonging to the Templars. While you are in Miravet, don’t miss a trip to the excellent artisan ceramic workshop. More About Miravet...


The Els Ports Natural Park mountain range, the highest peak being Mont Caro at approximately 1447m is also nearby. These is a serious range of mountains but there are possibilities for all levels of experience all year round.

Barcelona is an easy (cheap) train ride from L’Ametlla with free parking at the station.  For lovers of modernist architecture, Gaudi’s masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia must be seen as well as some of his other works such as Park Guell, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.  Walk down Paseo de Gracia to window shop in the exclusive designer shops that line the avenue or jump on the tourist bus that will take you around the city and let you off at the most important sights of interest such as the Gothic Quarter and the Picasso Museum.
